Aesop selects Good Form 'VV Cinquanta' Floor Lamp for Smith & Caughey display window.

This Aesop location celebrates the rich and varied history of the Smith and Caughey department store and the Victorian building it resides in. The Aesop counter references the staff room which was designed in the early 1960's and remains in original condition. Clean lines, rich earthy colours and a touch of smokey mid-century glamour define the aesthetic.

The finished installation is refined, elegant and memorable. A poem by William Butler Yeats entitled 'A Coat' precedes the visual narrative of the store-front display. We love the perfect mix of vintage furniture, mid century modern and industrial influences alongside classic designer pieces and of course the iconic Aesop amber bottle that connects each space.

Nestled among the display is our very own Astep VV Cinquanta floor lamp in black. A perfect accompaniment to the minimal black and white aesthetic of Aesop. We are delighted to be involved with a brand that is world renowned for their considered details, in a local setting right here in Auckland city.

Check out the fantastic window display before Monday 28th May.

I made my song a coat Covered with embroideries, Out of old mythologies From heel to throat; But the fools caught it, Wore it in the world’s eyes, As though they’d wrought it. Song, let them take it, For there’s more enterprise In walking naked.

Vittoriano Viganò’s work for Arteluce in the 1950s has become highly coveted and emblematic of the sculptural organic designs that emerged from post war Italy. The VV Cinquanta lighting series with its slender forms and ovoid shades perfectly showcase the lavish and gestural style that defined Italian modernism. This model stands gracefully on a slender black aluminium or brass frame with a reflector made of enameled spun aluminium, available in original Vittoriano Viganò colours.
