Designer Jo Hammerborg is a prominent figure in Danish lighting, having created over 180 lamps. Initially trained as a silversmith at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts and worked for Georg Jensen.
His lighting design for Fog & Mørup was noted for the reductive forms and skilled techniques. His designs from this period remain as some of the most well known Danish lighting objects today. Throughout his life his work received popular attention and professional acclaim. His designs remain in production today through various makers.
Jo Hammerborg was a talented athlete and keen skydiver who ultimately lost his life in an accident while participating in this pursuit.
