Nedre Foss’ Sammu is a beautifully designed candle snuffer designed by Studio Tolvanen. A small table sculpture featuring a tactile brass surface, Sammu has a delicate and fruity shape that invites you to both look and touch.
Sammu takes its name from ‘kynttilänsammutin’, the Finnish word for candle snuffer, but the root word ‘sammu’ is slang for having extinguished a fire or put out a lamp. It makes a great pairing with the Nedre Foss’ Ildhane candlestick, also designed by Julie and Mika Tolvanen. Over time, Sammu’s brass surface will develop a sophisticated, lively patina – or, if you prefer, you can maintain the sheen of the brass by polishing the surface regularly.

Nedre Foss
Norwegian brand Nedre Foss has cultivated a design direction founded in thoughtful, slow living. A curated set of home objects that are intended to be used and equally appreciated as sculptural pieces to enhance the everyday. Founded on the concept of the 'Century Product', the goal is to create objects that will last for at least 100 years and where utility and sculptural qualities are equal parts of the function.
