Originally designed in 1972 Omkstak has been in continuous production since with sales now exceeding one million units. The lightweight and stackable Omkstak Classic Chair incorporates a pressed steel seat and back panel fixed to a continuous tubular frame, making it extremely strong and durable.
What makes this chair unique is the combination of its functionality, its simplicity and its precise form. Considered to be an icon of the high tech design era, it is included in permanent collections of 20th century furniture around the world including the Victoria & Albert, Design Museum London and Philadelphia Museum of Art.

The Maker /
OMK 1965
OMK was founded by Rodney Kinsman in 1965 after graduating from the Central School of Art in London. Kinsman’s goal was to usher in a new era of modern British design. The company quickly became a key figure in the High-Tech design movement and produced many of the most successful furniture ranges that retailed through Terence Conran’s Habitat stores in the 60s and 70s.

Rodney Kinsman
Rodney Kinsman graduated from the Central School of Art in London in 1965 with a goal to usher in a new era of modern British design. In 1966 Rodney founded OMK to produce the progressive designs he intended to create. The company quickly became a key figure in the High-Tech design movement and produced many of the highly successful furniture ranges retailed through Terence Conran’s Habitat stores in the ‘60s and ‘70s.
